I recently started working on the live sound team at my church, which is a new facet of the music industry to me.
Live sound itself is something I’ve only now just started delving into.
Or at least on the in person, implementation level – I’ve done a whole lot of research on the gear, the processes involved etc. that I won’t bore you about.
As a night owl, waking up on Sunday mornings can be a pretty significant challenge, particularly because historically, I’ve really struggled with my sleep habits.
I’ve been somewhat grinding late nights (read: all nighters), and trying to find a balance between getting enough sleep, as well as filling my days with enough productive work to actually make progress in other areas of my life.

So I’ve begun the slow process of resetting my biological clock.
Trust me, it’s far from an easy task when you’re used to staying up past ungodly hours into the morning.
It really messed with my work schedule too.
I’d basically stay up all night until some time around the late morning or early afternoon, sleep until dinner time or later, and had to work around that routine for my dayjob.
Not to mention balancing that with church and related extracurriculars, as well as getting to the gym 4 – 5 days per week.
I even considered switching to night crew shifts so that I could maintain the constant nocturnal lifestyle.
The hard part wasn’t really the schedule I was on itself.
It was more like shifting my sleep habits back by several hours at a time.
That’s particularly challenging because you basically have to function normally throughout your day while tired, and you also have to keep doing it day after day without messing up the habit.
We’ll see where this path will take me.
All I know is that I’m very tired right now and I’m about to slide into my bed for a bit.
Happy Sunday!
